A Leader in Facial Rejuvenation: Dr. Fechner

When considering any anti-aging treatment, remember that laser treatments are a tool – not magic. Just like a scalpel blade, it is the hands behind the treatment that matter above all. Dr. Fechner is a leading authority in facial rejuvenation, and may advise you to undergo fractional laser treatments as part of your customized anti-aging treatment plan.

What Is Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Fractional laser treatments are one of the latest developments in effectively improving the quality of aging skin. The innovative technology is designed to target only specific areas, leaving the other untreated skin undamaged. This treatment leads to an improved appearance of aged and sun-damaged skin, while triggering the production of new collagen to firm and improve the quality of skin. The face, neck and chest can be effectively treated with our fractional laser skin resurfacing in Worcester.

How Does Fractional Laser Resurfacing Improve Skin?

A laser works by sending a powerful and microscopically thin beam of light energy into the skin. The energy is then preferentially absorbed by the water, which makes up about 80 percent of the damaged skin. Fine layers of surface skin are removed, leaving untreated bridges of skin intact for faster recovery. The aged collagen fibers supporting the skin is remodeled and tightened, producing improvements in the appearance of wrinkles and texture. Through the restructuring process, the skin appears healthier, smoother and softer.

What Are The Advantages Of Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing With ActiveFX And DeepFX?

The revolutionary Encore DeepFX and ActiveFX laser treatments produce dramatic improvements after a single application. ActiveFX and DeepFX are fractional CO2 laser treatments. The downtime is minimal. Because un-treated skin bridges remain, the treatment means rapid healing.

Does ActiveFX And DeepFX Differ from Fraxel laser treatments?

The Encore ActiveFX and DeepFX technology are advanced CO2 laser treatments. Because of their impressive efficacy, CO2 lasers have become the “gold standard” in skin rejuvenation. Unfortunately, conventional CO2 laser treatments commonly had an unacceptably long recovery.

Encore ActiveFX and DeepFX treatments capitalize on the CO2 laser’s results with fractional technology for a more rapid recovery. For conventional Fraxel™ treatments about 4 treatments are recommended for a reasonable result. In contrast, Encore ActiveFX and DeepFX will deliver significant improvements after just one treatment session.

What Is The UltraPulse ActiveFX Treatment?

Encore ActiveFX is a single treatment solution for aging and sun-damaged skin. It is optimally used for people who cannot afford a long recovery but still want improvements of dyschromias (age spots), fine lines, and wrinkles. The superficial ActiveFX treatment uses fractional laser beams to treat the skin surface leaving bridges of untreated skin for a rapid recovery. During the treatment, loose collagen fibers contract, softening wrinkles and lines and improving skin texture. Patients can return to their professional and private lives much faster than with older generation laser treatments. Initially, you may feel like you are sunburned; after two days, the treated skin flakes off. Depending on your skin type and extent of treatment, you may be able to wear make-up to hide the remaining pinkness of your skin.

What Is DeepFX?

As the name implies, DeepFX produces changes of the skin that deeper within the surface. Deep FX uses fractional CO2 laser treatments to improve the appearance of fine lines, deep wrinkles, texture irregularities and scarring. The process tightens aging collagen strands and triggers the body to produce more fresh strands.

While effective, conventional treatments required a lengthy recovery (old CO2 lasers or deep facial peels) or multiple treatments (conventional Fraxel™). Deep dermal skin layers are treated by laser micro-beams precisely targeting the skin’s collagen layers. Immediate collagen tightening leads to long-term collagen remodeling. The remodeling takes some time to mature, and improvements continue in the months ahead.

What Is TotalFX?

Most patients will come to us with a combination of sun dyschromias, lines, wrinkles and some scarring. TotalFX allows the laser surgeon to address all these issues in one treatment. Usually, DeepFX is performed first, followed immediately by ActiveFX for more complete skin rejuvenation. The recovery time is shorter than traditional skin rejuvenation laser treatments. The treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete. Although not required, Dr. Fechner may advise a light sedative when you arrive for your appointment, for your comfort. A topical anesthetic cream is applied and allowed to penetrate for maximal comfort. The TotalFX treatment is performed first, centered upon the appropriate visible wrinkles and scars (such as acne scars). ActiveFX follows to ensure balanced and more complete skin rejuvenation.
