Restylane in Worcester

The Restylane product line represents a cutting-edge soft tissue filler used daily by Dr. Fechner and his experienced staff. The various formulations of Restylane allow Dr. Fechner to improve many facial flaws, from fine lines on the upper lips to areas of significant volume loss. Dr. Fechner uses this state-of-the-art injectable to restore volume to the lips, cheeks, and jawline. Especially suited for the delicate areas around the eyes, Dr. Fechner uses Restylane daily for the filling of tear-trough grooves underneath the eyes that contribute to bothersome dark circles.

Dr. Fechner started to use Restylane more than 15 years ago and finds Restylane to be of excellent value today as years ago. Over the years, he has successfully performed thousands of Restylane dermal filler treatments for his patients. Restylane has been FDA-approved as a safe and effective dermal filler since 1996. It is currently used worldwide and represents arguably the safest and most popular filler.

Dr. Fechner Uses Restylane for Whole-Face Enhancements

Good candidates for Restylane injections are men and women of all ages and skin types. Dr. Fechner feels that the goals for every injectable filler treatment include a soft, natural facial volume without unbalanced grooves, folds, or wrinkles. Before any Restylane injection, Dr. Fechner will examine your face in a private treatment room. Using a mirror, he will learn about your concerns, explain his findings, and discuss options for treatment with you. The Restylane injection treatment with Dr. Fechner normally takes 10 to 30 minutes.

As an expert in filler face contouring, Dr. Fechner will place the injectable Restylane beneath the top layer of skin using a thin blunt cannula. The meticulous technique will allow Dr. Frank Fechner to provide such a treatment with minimal discomfort or pain. Although Restylane injections are not considered painful, patients may note minor discomfort with pinching, pressure, or stinging sensation. For best patient comfort, Dr. Fechner will use strategic nerve blocks for the lips to make this otherwise more uncomfortable treatment painless.

There is no downtime required after your Restylane injection, and you can resume work, school, and social activities the same day. You may experience mild side effects, including puffiness and potentially minor bruising. Makeup can be used to camouflage any imperfections. Some patients may prefer to wait for their skin discoloration to have dissipated (one to three days) before returning to the workplace. Dr. Fechner recommends skipping strenuous exercise for 12 hours after the injection of Restylane. In addition, you do not want to engage in pressure massage to the treated facial area for 3 days.

What is Restylane Made of?

Restylane is an HA (hyaluronic acid) gel dermal filler that was approved by the FDA more than 20 years ago. Because of its soft and pliable nature, Dr. Fechner uses Restylane to improve anything from fine lines to deep crevices on the face, acne scars, and areas of volume loss. Dr. Fechner likes the characteristics of Restylane to improve lip contours as well as the upper and lower eye area.

Candidacy for Restylane Treatment

Before your treatment, Dr. Fechner and his staff will ensure that you are in reasonable health for your treatment. It is important that you have realistic expectations about what Restylane injections can do for you and where your limitations lie. If you are hoping to improve skin lines, deep crevices, acne scars, or areas of volume loss, you may be a good candidate. Dr. Fechner treats women and men of all ethnicities. You want to ensure that you thoroughly understand the injectable treatment process before committing to Restylane filler injections.

How is the Restylane Injection Performed?

All Restylane injections will be performed in our state-of-the-art cosmetic clinic in Worcester, MA. Dr. Fechner performs these treatments with an expert hand, keeping the patient’s comfort in mind. Local anesthetics are routinely combined with these injections.

For most filler injections, Dr. Fechner prefers to avoid sharp needles; rather, he uses blunt, skinny cannulas for increased patient comfort and less bruising and swelling. The whole treatment usually takes 10 to 15 minutes; if the Q-Lift whole face rejuvenation is performed, you have to allow 20 to 30 minutes for completion of the injections.

Which Different Restylane Products Does Dr. Fechner Use?

Restylane has been manufactured in various different formulations. The science behind various fillers, their theoretical features, and the technology of how they were produced in the laboratory can be quite confusing to both patients and doctors alike. After injection, Dr. Fechner’s patients rarely care if the product was manufactured using NASHA technology or XpresHAn technology. Instead, the natural look, feel, and longevity are essential. In Dr. Fechner’s experience, all Restylane products are similarly safe.

Restylane

Restylane is Dr. Fechner's go-to product, especially for delicate areas such as under-eyes, eyelids, and lips. Its natural feel, combined with excellent durability, makes Restylane an extraordinarily effective and versatile soft tissue filler. In addition, we like Restylane in areas of the face where the skin is smooth, and mobility is important.

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft is thicker with microscopic gel particles that are larger than what is found in Restylane. Therefore, Dr. Fechner likes Restylane Lift for facial parts where support is importance and changes of the facial change are desirable. Therefore, we use Restylane lift commonly for cheekbone and chin enhancements as well as non-surgical chin augmentation. In addition, Restylane Lyft is Dr. Fechner’s filler of choice for non-surgical liquid rhinoplasty.

Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is the thinnest of the group because the tiny gel particles are very small. The product is significantly less viscous and well-positioned for correction of small skin creases and delicate little treatments. Dr. Fechner relies on Restylane Silk in rare situations, for instance when a patient is requesting additional touch up of small imperfections. Longevity of Restylane Silk may be surpassed by Restylane and Restylane Lyft.

Restylane Defyne and Restylane Refyne

Defyne and Refyne are closest related to Restylane. Technologically, these two products differ in the amount of cross-linking provided between the hyaluronic acid molecules: Defyne has more cross-links, is more supportive, and therefore provides tighter control of deeper grooves. Refyne is more flexible and chosen for less prominent folds and creases. Both Restylane Defyne and Restylane Refyne have been produced using XpresHAn Technology™ to modulate their exact biochemical structure. Dr. Fechner stresses that despite all technological detail, it is the doctor’s experience, meticulous technique, and aesthetic understanding that will take these filler tools and put them to best use for his patients.

After Restylane Treatments

Just like any injectable treatment, minor pinkness, puffiness, or spot bruising may also develop after the Restylane Injections. Some people are more prone to bruises or may take blood-thinning agents such as Aspirin, ibuprofen, Vitamin E, or fish oil. For these patients, above-normal bruising may be observed. Aside from refraining from exercising vigorously for 12 hours after the treatment, there are no further restrictions after Restylane injections. You may return to work right after the treatment. Longevity in the normal patient is routinely six months or longer. Some patients are still quite happy after a few years.

What are the Risks and Complications Associated with Dermal Fillers?

In Dr. Fechner’s practice, Restylane has been an extremely safe and well-tolerated injectable soft tissue filler for his patients. Few significant risks exist in addition to normal, usually mild side effects. These more common occurrences include swelling, redness, and bruising. For the first few days, you may also feel like there is too much volume (e.g., lips) because of the temporary puffiness.

Of course, this will settle over a few days. Complications associated with this FDA-approved injectable filler are similar to those associated with other fillers in this class and include rare headaches, flu-like symptoms, nausea, muscle weakness, infections, vision impairment, and pain at the injection site.
